The price of a cloud seat stays the same.
Our previous pricing was too cheap to be sustainable - the average revenue per company was around $300 per year, a low number for a B2B business. We underestimated the revenue and at the same time the effort it takes to handle feature requests, consultation as well as to support our customers.
Our product is free for small companies and individuals, so we think that after the pricing change the fact remains that anyone that wants to use Remotion can afford it.
Making this change will ensure that Remotion stays here for a long time and allow us to invest in product upgrades and better support.
We understand that we have incentivized businesses with the previous pricing and are not increasing prices for existing customers. We are also announcing this price increase well ahead of time to allow companies that have been planning to buy a license to lock into the current pricing.
The same goes for the new pricing: Should we change it in the future, we will allow existing subscribers to be grandfathered into the pricing that they signed up for. Promised!
